December Star Student Steven

      Steven is one of our December Start Students.  He loves Math and also enjoys fishing and playing games.  Steven's Mom brought yummy green apples with caramel dip for the class! YUM!

Star Student- Mikey

 

Mikey was one of our November Star Students.  He enjoys watching Star Wars and playing sports. He loves math and writing. His parents brought in yummy fall donuts to share for his celebration.

Makenzi was one of our November Star Students.  She loves to play soccer and play with her dog.  Makenzi is a great helper and enjoys reading and writing. Her Mom joined us to celebrate her star student award and brought the class delicious yogurt popsicles!

Boosterthon Pictures

The students had a BLAST at the Boosterthon Fun run! Iron Mike led the way around the fun run track.  Each student ran 35 laps.  Thank you for all your support with this fundraiser!!

MOSH TRIP

We had a great trip to the MOSH. The students loved the hand-on exploring and learning and most of all the "Day and Night Sky" show. A big thank you to all our wonderful parent chaperones for joining us!

Alimacani Election 2012

Alimacani has voted! All classes participated in a mock election where students were able to cast their vote for the President. Each student "signed in" with their ID tags and filled out their own ballot for either Obama or Romney. The students enjoyed learning about the voting process. A big thank you to Mrs. Rogers and her 1st grade class for setting up and running the 1st grade booth!

Boosterthon is here!

Alimacani is raising money to benefit our much needed improvements to our playground.  The students are all very excited about this fundraiser that allows them to be a huge part of it including: character development, earning prizes for home and school, and ending with a fun run for ALL students. Please help us support this amazing fundraiser!!

Updates: - If you have no already done so, please turn in your child's permission slip for the MOSH field trip. We have passed the deadline for ordering a lunch from the cafe so please be sure to pack a lunch for your child on Nov. 8th. Thank you!

Drug and Bully Free Door

Take a look at our final product! A big thanks to Mrs Sheely for helping with the door project. It turned out great.

Next week is say no to drugs and bullying at Alimacani. A big thanks to Mrs. Sheely for helping the class make owls for the door decorating contest. Stay tuned for a picture of our completed project!

Star Student Ryan P!

Ryan is one of our October Star Students. He is a great helper and always treats others with respect. He likes Math and enjoys going fishing. His Mom brought in delicious cupcakes to share!

Star Student Lauren!

Lauren is one of our October Star Students. She is so sweet and always tries her best. She loves to draw and read poems. She is a great class helper. Her Mom and neighbor, Ms. Joyce, brought in fresh fruit and yummy fruit dip to share.

Roll and Record!

We have been working on number combinations this week. Today the students worked in pairs on a game called Roll and Record in which they rolled two dice and recorded the combinations on a graph. The class discussed strategies for combining and recording.

Centers!

We have started centers! The students are really enjoying this independent work time. Each center covers a specific skill and several target the words of the week. We have a total of 8 centers. The class favorite is computer!!

September Start Student Grace!

Grace is one of our star students for the month of September.  She is so sweet and always tries her best.  Grace is a great writer.  She loves horses and spending time with her family.  Her Mom came to join us to celebrate and brought the class yummy apples and caramel dip!

All About Me Projects!

The All About Me Projects turned out GREAT! The students enjoyed sharing all about themselves and learning more about one another.  Thank you parents for your help at-home making these wonderful projects!

OPEN HOUSE

Open House is on Sept 6th and will begin at 6pm with the PTA in the multipurpose room.  The classroom sessions will begin at 7pm in our room.  I will be sharing a variety of information about our classroom and First Grade expectations.  I hope to see you all there! 

Exploring With Math Manipulatives!

We had a fantastic first week in rm 34! The students enjoyed exploring with our Math linking cubes, pattern blocks, and geoblocks. We are looking forward to our upcoming beginning of the year themes and units.
