Lilly and Finn are our two October Star Students. They both are wonderful class helpers. Finn enjoys math and Lilly loves to read. Congrats to these two on their hard work!
Capt McAvoy from Jax Beach fire dept came to teach first graders about fire safety. They enjoyed seeing all his fire gear and learning safety tips. A big thank you to Capt McAvoy for visiting our students!
Today we had a local chiropractor visit our classroom to teach the students more about their nervous and skeletal systems. The class loved seeing her spine model and asking her questions. A big thank you to Dr Alterman for visiting our class today!
Emily and Logan are our Sept star students. They both enjoy math and are great class helpers!

Today the class practiced playing another game of combinations. For this game they ask a partner for a number card to make a combination of 10.
The students have been practicing combinations (number bonds) this week. Today we played a fun game practicing combinations of 8.
Today was our first flag raising ceremony of the school year. Parents and guests are always welcome to join us for these ceremonies each month.
Savannah and Josephine are our May star students. Both enjoy playing reflex math and playing on the playground. The students have enjoyed celebrating one another as star students this year!
The class enjoyed playing 10's plus in small groups today. Each student took turns rolling two dice and added them together. They recorded their rolls on the 10's plus board. Whoever filled a row first one the game.
Valerie was one of our April star students. She enjoys playing the violin and PE. She brought in yummy chocolate chip cookies to celebrate.

The class enjoyed our trip to Sweet Pete's. They loved making and bringing home their own lollipops! They even were able to meet the famous candy man, Sweet Pete.
Charity is one of our March star students. She enjoys art class and wants to be a teacher when she grows up. Keep up the great work Charity.
Brody is one of our March star students. He loves science and is a class leader. His Mom stopped by to share his poster with the class.
Layla and Kamden are our two February Star Students. They both love to help others in class. Layla enjoys reading chapter books and Kamden enjoys science and learning about animals. Keep up the great work!
This week our class read several Laura Numeroff books. We celebrated our love for this author and class favorite, If You Give A Pig A Pancake, with delicious pancakes!
Tessa's Mom came in to share facts and photos from Norway, her native country. The students enjoyed learning about it and were fascinated to find out that Disney's Frozen was based off a location in Norway! Thank you Mrs. Moser for sharing with the class!
A big thank you parents for all your help at home with our multicultural children around the world projects. Each student was well prepared to share with the class and the students learned a lot from these projects!
Joshua and Lianna were our January star students. They are very sweet and kind to others and always do their best work. Congrats to both of them for their excellent work this year.
We have started a survey questions unit. Today the students asked each other what color their backpack is. Each student graphed their results.
We have recently started our report writing unit. The students are very excited to be researching non-fiction topics. The class did a shared writing using a graphic organizer to chart our research after reading the text "Amazing Sharks". Each student picked their own animal to research and completed this graphic organizer as a first step into developing a report that meets the first grade standard for informational writing. I encourage you to visit the library and check out some non-fiction texts!
